- Teachers can use Quizlet to supplement classroom activities by differentiating instruction for a wide variety of student skill levels and take advantage of interactive classroom activities
- Many students find that Quizlet makes studying more effective and enjoyable because it allows them to use many different educational methods to help retain information
Why should parents & educators care?
- Quizlet is very commonly used by students and, in many cases, is one of the first places students turn when they need to study
- Free and paid versions of Quizlet are available. However, the free version is extremely limited in what it offers and resources that were previously free are now only available through a paid account
- Quizlet utilizes a variety of educational tools to help students retain information and is suitable to a wide variety of learning styles
Can Quizlet be used to cheat?
- Quizlet states that they “prohibit all forms of cheating and academic dishonesty on our platform” (Source: Quizlet.com), however there are always students who may use the platform in a dishonest way
- The platform includes study questions created by users which may be pulled from actual quizzes and tests. Students searching for those specific questions are able to see the answers, so students may use it to cheat
- Students should be encouraged to use Quizlet as a study tool rather than as a shortcut that could limit their long-term learning
- Quizlet actively removes content that is flagged as a potential violation of academic integrity
Examples of Quizlet in the News
"Quizlet has invested in AI since we debuted Learn Mode in 2017 and we've seen first-hand just how beneficial AI is to help students learn," said Quizlet CEO Lex Bayer. "This back-to-school, we are launching products that use generative AI to go a step beyond anything students have seen before and to do what we do best: help students practice and master whatever they are learning." - PR Newswire
“It’s not writing the outline for you, it’s definitely not writing the paper for you,” (Nitin) Gupta, vice president of product at Quizlet says. “But it’s giving you that coach, it’s having that tutor that’s sitting over your shoulder to be like: Have you thought about what other alternate viewpoints might there be? What data might you want to support that?” - Fortune
What can parents & educators do?
